Since October 17, 2023, when Israel deliberately targeted and bombed the al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, it became clear that the destruction of the Palestinian health sector was one of the main components of Israel’s strategy of genocide.

Destroying the health sector impedes healing and makes life and survival next to impossible.

More than two years later, Israel has demolished buildings and infrastructure, and dismantled supply chains for essential medications and supplies. More importantly, Israel has deliberately targeted and killed, abducted, tortured, and maimed hundreds of doctors, nurses, and health care workers, making the recovery of the system extremely challenging with the now-present gaps in skilled and experienced manpower.

All the targeting and attacks on the various facets of the health system are being meticulously documented and archived by the Institute for Palestine Studies under the program: "Documenting the targeting and destruction of the health sector in the Gaza Strip".
